This region beginning with New Iberia and Loreauville, is too Hot! being home to the Tabasco Co, head quarters, in Avery Island. The famous Jungle gardens are here too! Be sure to not miss theShadows on the teche the only National Trust historic museum and garden in Louisianan! Being along the Atchafalaya basin, or Swamp is really what it is, It's now referred to as the Atchafalaya National Heritage Area being a river basin and wilderness area, with rich fields of sugar cane along it's banks.
The Cajun Coast area of Cajun Country as it is referred to , can begin a great tour or Sunday outing. Morgan city being a port city with strong ties to the Oil Exploration industry, Work boats, as well as fishing and shrimp boats ply these waters, into Vermilion bay and eventually to the Gulf of Mexico.
The Charenton and Franklin area now has their own casino, and the traffic has increased, the cane industry thrives here, and the season is upon us so watch for the cane trucks, and the other industry related trappings. The area is know for their Oaks, and beautiful homes and settings, so watch the road but enjoy the view.
As with most of the areas of Cajun Country, come hungry, for the great cajun country food, the wonderful music along the bayous, rivers, and thoroughfares of cajun country, being the lonesome call of a fiddle, or the beat of a washboard, being complimented with a long faced melody.
